Appears we will be in the center of the path of hurricane Sandy. We are ready.
- Local emergency center called to remind us of the storm and that it is a dangerously strong storm.
- Local power company has called to remind us we may be without power for as long as four (4) days.
- We have ice, propane for the grill
- Water in any container that will hold water and plenty of bottled drinking water
- Paper towels, bathroom tissue, paper plates
We’re ready. Husband just came in with beer and wine to go with another bag of ice. (He is thinking emergency here)
Having survived Florida hurricanes for 15 years, we will make it through this one.
But, we are in the country, so if power goes out, we may be using oil lamps and candles for a while – we have a good supply of steaks to cook on the propane grille that hubby put in the garage.
Everyone that is in the path of Sandy, stay safe.

Our TV goes out with most storms. We are so remote we can only use DISH and that is the pits when it rains.

Stay safe. We have two water coolers with a spigot. One for the kitchen and one for tha bath. We fill t hem with clean water for washing hands and brushing teeth, just in case. Florida experience.
When in Fla, we had good friends who lived in a evacuation area. They had two dogs, and could not go to a evacuation center….so we had a great time.

Montgomery County Public Schools just announced that school is cancelled for Monday and Tuesday. I’m packing up and taking my son west to visit his grandmother near Frostburg. I think we’ll be in the clear there. Stay safe, Shirley!

Thanks for reminding those of us in the path. Just want to add two important points…..if your area loses power, you will not be able to get $$$ from any ATM’s and you will not be able to get gasoline for your car. Keep on going.

If we lose power, we won’t be going anywhere….hubby thought of the gasoline when he bought the beer. So, as long as we can get into the garage, we will eat steaks, otherwise it will be canned soup….
May as well be happy.
Take care.
