Re-posted from: Thoughts of an old man – pay him a visit here:
I HEARD THIS FOR THE FIRST TIME A FEW WEEKS AGO. I’LL PUT IT IN MY OWN WORDS AND HOPE YOU HEAR THE MESSAGE.
The auctioneer, at the end of the auction, held the old fiddle and bow up high.
Not thinking it had much worth, he held it up high for all to see
It was dented and scracthed, and not a very pretty sight.
Who will do the bidding for me?
1 dollar came the bid, who’ll give me 2 said the auctioneer with a smile
2 dollars came another bid, who’ll give me 3 said the auctioneer loud.
3 dollars came a voice, but then the room went silent. 3 dollars once, 3 dollars twice, goin, going but wait….
From the back of the room walked and old grey haired man and he took the fiddle and bow in his hand. He tightened the strings, held it dear to his chin and played a melody as sweet as the angels sing.
He handed it back to the actioneer and from back in the crowd yelled a voice. $1000 was the bid, who’ll give me two, $2000 came another voice in the crowd. $3000 came another eager voice and the room grew silent again. $3000 once, $3000 twice, going going, gone.
A cheer went up and the auctioneer smiled, but some were puzzled and cried. One stood up with tears in his eyes and said, we don’t really understand. What changed the worth so quickly? What did we just see? The auctioneer smiled and replied with a smile. It’s very simple you see, It was the touch of the Masters hand.
Many a man have been beaten and scared, but it is no problem for the Masters hand. Jesus is the Master. More later as I recall……..
