Teacher as Transformer

Several years ago, I was in a small city Medicine Hat, Alberta. I was lost and stopped several people for directions. The second half of this poem by Connie Wanek reminded me of some of the directions I received. I eventually found my way.

Today, as a I read this poem, I wondered if the second half of the poem’s directions were not the ones I need some days. Occasionally, t is nice to wander. A river that winds its way through the landscape meanders. I wonder why we don’t do that more as humans? When I got to the last line about approaching the horizon on my knees it reminded me of the things I take for granted and do not take time to just meander towards.

First you’ll come to the end of the freeway.
Then it’s not so much north on Woodland Avenue
as it is…

  1. I feel so sorry for your loss. I hope you are able to uncover all the information you need. Ray’s story is certainly a sad one. Marsha

    • It will be resolved one day. More details are soon to be revealed.

The chemical barium is lethal and no one cares to search for the source, or cares that more could be in the community.

      • You care, and sometimes one person has to carry the caring for a while alone before followers come. And sometimes they don’t come within that person’s circle of knowledge. You don’t know who all may be reading and taking a spark of an idea from what you are doing. So keep up your good work. 🙂 My best to you. 🙂

        • Jim Campbell added an outstanding contribution to Ray’s story. The lethal chemical compound barium is a dangerous substance in the heavy metal category of compounds. Jim was skillful in this addition.

          God bless.

          • Yes, and you have your start to continue your mission. The video was very well done. It’s a long one for the internet community who primarily looks quickly, likes and moves on, but I watched the entire video. If anyone stops long enough to watch it, I’m sure you will get noticed. You might want to edit it to show a series of mini clips. 🙂

            • Ken Lang provided the video. Ken is a local homicide detective and police artist who also writes true crime stories. He asked to do Ray’s story and slowly it is gaining viewers. Most important is participation of Dr. Hartgrove, a toxicologist I consulted. He confirms that barium is lethal and anyone can see the dangers from contact with the compound.

Thank you for viewing and hopefully as it circulates it may save another’s life.

              God bless.

  2. Thank you for the re-blog. It is greatly appreciated.
